Our History

West Kildonan Memorial Community Center

West Kildonan Memorial Community Centre was started in 1947.

The building was originally a wooden structure. The centre was used for several programs and activities. We also hosted youth dances in the sixties.

In 1967 the arena was built. The community centre was rebuilt in 1970, to celebrate the city of West Kildonan and its centennial. In 1972 with the amalgamation of the City of Winnipeg, the arena was taken over by the city.

In 1993 the community centre took over the operation of the arena on behalf of the city and to this day both arena and community centre are operating  for our community by a volunteer board.
